Songs of Summer
Music is a part of
my every day life. I listen to it when I am getting ready, during the day at
work, and when I am cleaning around the house. I can be doing just about
anything and I will still be listening to music. And I'm not picky when it comes
to music. I will give anything a try once. When I was in college I would always
listen to Baby Einstein or Jazz Pandora stations just so I wasn't
sitting in silence. Depending on my mood I will listen to everything from
classic rock to alternative and all genres between! The only thing I don't
listen to much is the radio or Top 40 hits. I'm not big on hearing the same five
songs played over and over all day every day! (Is this weird?!)
I don't know if
y'all are like me, but when I hear particular songs and like them they will be
on repeat for months to come. (.....maybe that's just me!) It doesn't matter if
the song is new or old- if I like it, it will be listened to!
These are some of my favorite songs that I can listen to at any given time this summer and be instantly in a good mood! These were either stumbled upon (thanks pandora) or friends suggested them to me...and I'm sure glad they did!
Any new music suggestions are welcome! See songs you want to listen to? Lucky you, I've made a Spotify playlist!
Have a listen & enjoy!

Latest Obsession: Hot Pink
I have never been a pink person. I was a tomboy
growing up so I pretty much never wore any girly colors and mostly just wore
Nike shorts and a Nike t-shirt every day.. yea, real cute.
So you could say my obsession with pink is
fairly new, as in it just started about a month ago. Maybe the neon trend
brought some great hot pink pieces, or maybe summer is just meant to be spent in
hot pink. Whatever the reason, I can't stop buying hot pink items.

Summer Reading
One of the main
things that I do in the summertime is reading! I absolutely love it and I am
always looking for new books to read. Unfortunately, it's super hard to find
interesting books! I use my wonderful nook to read books, and I've started to
just get samples of books so I can determine whether or not I want to actually
buy the books! Here's what I've read so far this summer.
Written by Hannah from The Pink and Green Prep
1. I caught up on
the Pretty Little Liars series, and I've read #9, #10, and #11! They are
not hard to read in the slightest, but they make for a fun, quick summer
read!
2. I came across
Sorority Sisters when I visited Barnes and Noble in June, and I was
pleasantly surprised by it! It was about the friendship of a group of girls in
California and I had a great time reading it.
3. The Fixer
Upper is such a chick-lit book, but it got a lot better as it went along!
It's about a lawyer who is forced to move to Georgia when her boss frames her
for political bribery. She ends up renovating an old house that her family
owned. It sounds ridiculous but I liked it!
4. Gone
Girl. All I can say is BEST BOOK EVER. I am completely serious, I am so so
so obsessed with this book it's not even funny. When I finished it, I was in a
state of shock for the 24 hours following. I could not stop talking about it.
It's about a kidnapping/murder case...that's pretty much all the information I
can give away without giving too much away! READ IT!
5. I'm currently
reading American Wife. The author, Curtis Sittenfield, wrote the popular
book Prep, so I was interested to see what else they had written! It's very good
so far, and I hope to finish it soon!
Other books that I
have downloaded previews of are The Next Best Thing, Heat Wave,
Summer Breeze, Savannah Blues, Something Borrowed, and
Beach Music! If anyone has any suggestions, PLEASE let me know! I know we are all looking for some great summer reads!

Review: The Frat Collection
I discovered The Frat Collection about two months
ago and immediately knew I would be a fan! First off, there was a bow tie that
I could finally wear (okay so maybe its just their logo, but I was still very
excited about it!) They were founded on the idea of a “party shirt” but I think
they go beyond just a party shirt. It is such a good shirt for a casual day.
Sometimes you just need a comfy shirt for the day and this is where their shirt
comes in. You go to their site and make a custom shirt just for you. Pick the
pocket design, then pick your shirt color and sleeve length. It is such an
original idea and I love it! Also, another huge bonus is that they donate 10%
of the price to the philanthropy of choice, so not only are you buying
something adorable, but you are giving back too!
Here is the shirt I customized
Now I don’t wear a ton of t-shirts (unless I decide to work on my fitness…) but when I do, this will be my go-to. It is cute and comfy, what more could you want?
p.s. they have tons of pocket designs for both ladies and gentlemen, so check them out!

The Kate Effect: Wimbledon
Here's my look for less:
I had a really hard time finding a budget-friendly jacket similar to Kate's, but the dress and clutch are such a good deal, I figured it's worth it to splurge on a timeless tweed jacket!
I haven't been able to find a picture that shows the shoes she was wearin, but since in the past she's paired both the jacket and the dress with her trusty LK Bennett 'Sledge' pumps, that seems as good a guess as any.

How do you Stack up?
If you have been following along on
Life With Emily for a while, then it is no surprise to you that I love my
"stacks" on my wrists. I am always on the lookout for a new bracelet to add to
my collection! My stacks (or arm party...whatever term you prefer!) have become
a part of me. I feel 'off' if I forget them in my morning rush!
I always find the best stacks on Pinterest and love trying
to find bracelets like the ones I love on there! I really wish people were
better at adding comments & sources- it would make my search a looot easier !
Through some of my
favorite fashion bloggers (Atlantic Pacific, Elle Bow Room, The Style
Scribe) I have become more open to bigger and crazier stacks. They're just
too much fun to play around with and it's so easy to accessorize an outfit
through stacks of bracelets.
Here are some of my favorites via Pinterest
Here are a few of my stacks. I tend to keep them
more classic, but throw some color in here and there! Baby steps until I
fill my arms with bulk and tons of color!

The Most Important Meal of the Day!
Typically, I don't even think twice about NOT eating breakfast. I am usually not even hungry! But lately, I have been hearing things about how important breakfast is... A couple of days ago, I was watching my cooking idol, Ina Garten, make breakfast on The Food Network. She was making these mouth-watering yogurt parfaits with peaches and honey. Because I am not that into honey, I decided to create my own! So... here is my take on the most important meal of the day (that I actually like to eat every morning):
First gather all your ingredients. Pretty much everything is optional, depending on what kind of fruit you like. I used vanilla yogurt, raspberries, strawberries, peaches, and granola.
Written by Caroline from Citrus and Style
First gather all your ingredients. Pretty much everything is optional, depending on what kind of fruit you like. I used vanilla yogurt, raspberries, strawberries, peaches, and granola.
Open the yogurt, mix it well, and pour it into a small bowl. (teacup size)
Next throw in a few raspberries and cut up strawberries
Add another layer of yogurt and put a cut up peach on top of that
Sprinkle a little granola, put a little more yogurt on top and garnish with a raspberry
BON APPETIT!
