BOOKS TO READ THIS MONTH
It’s been almost two months since my last “Books to Read This Month” post! I’ve read some really good books over the last two months, so I’m excited to share them with you! I’m always looking to add more books to my bookshelf, so if you have any recommendations, leave them in the comments! You can see my previous book posts HERE, HERE, and HERE.
P.S. Happy Friday! I am soooo excited for this weekend because it’s going to be a fun one! My Matron of Honor is coming to town today and we’re going to catch up, get our nails done & do some wedding stuff! On Saturday I’m going dress shopping and I cannot even contain my excitement. I’m so excited to say “YES” to the dress- it will make everything feel more real! And then on Sunday Nick and I are taking our engagement photos with our photographer. It’s going to be a busy but fun weekend! You can catch some behind-the-scenes stuff on instagram stories or snapchat (enh410) xo

As y’all know, I’m a big reader. It’s one of the ways I like to relax in the evenings, with a good book in my hand! I always love a good thriller, but recently I read a few other genres and really enjoyed them as well.
SMALL GREAT THINGS BY JODI PICOULT | Jodi Picoult has been a long time favorite author of mine. She does a great job of reeling you in right from the start and this book was no different! This book is about a labor & delivery nurse of 20 years being accused of murder by a white supremacist. It takes you through the situation through the eyes of the three main characters. Ruth (the African American nurse), Kennedy (Ruth’s public defender), and Turk (the white supremacist). I always love Jodi Picoult’s books because they make me think and this one stayed with me for days. A lot of what happens in the book is going on across the country right now and really does make you think twice about the way people are treated daily.
THE NIGHTINGALE BY KRISTIN HANNAH | This is by far one of the best books I have ever read. I have always had an interest in World War II and Nazi Germany, so this book immediately picqued my interest. The author does an incredible job of transporting you into the time period and developing the characters throughout the book. This book tells the story of two sisters, Vianne and Isabelle, during World War II and all of the heartbreak, trouble, and devastation. I cannot say enough good things about this book. I laughed, I cried, I dropped it in the bathtub by accident, and was so sad when it was over. I urge you to read this book, you won’t regret it!
BIG LITTLE LIES BY LIANE MORIARTY | This book is by another author that I always tend to like. I started watching the show on HBO and quickly decided to read the book before I watched anymore. It had been downloaded on my iPad for the longest time, but I had just never gotten around to reading it. The book follows three women Madeline, Celeste, and Jane, who are all at different crossroads in their lives. While being kindergarten mom’s bond them at first, much more ends up keeping them together. This book shows that not everything is always as good as it seems and there are always secrets you never know…until they come out in a big way.

THE GIRL BEFORE BY J.P. DELANEY | This book is a thriller that documents two girls, Emma and Jane, living at One Folgate Street. While both lived there at different times, their stores are eerily similar. After traumatic experiences, both girls decide to move to this house for a totally different change. The house is a totally minimalistic oasis…with pages upon pages of rules to abide by. At first things seem great, but then both girls find that things are too good to be true. Both girls end up crossing the same paths with the same people and experiencing a truly awful tragedy. While this book is nowhere as good as Girl on the Train or similar books, it is still a good read!
THE PASSENGER BY LISA LUTZ | Ever think about running away and starting a whole new life? Tanya Dubois did, but her tangled web of lies makes her change her name and location every ten years. Constantly on the run, the main character (whose name changes 6 times in the book) takes you on the crazy journey of her life over the last 40 years and all the identities that come with it. There are twists and turns that I didn’t see coming & a few that were cliche, but overall it’s a good book!
RECONSTRUCTING AMELIA BY KIMBERLY MCCREIGHT |When Kate’s daughter Amelia, a seemingly normal teenage girl, is suddenly found dead, Kate has a hard time dealing with her death. Not only do the facts not add up, but Kate doesn’t believe she really committed suicide. She decides to take the investigation into her own hands and research her daughters notes, texts, and emails to find out the truth behind the tragic death of her daughter. I really liked this book, it was an easy read and I didn’t see the end coming!

NEVER ALONE BY ELIZABETH HAYNES | I had heard so many great things about this thriller that I couldn’t wait to start it. Unfortunately, it wasn’t much of a thriller until half-way through the book. The author does a good job introducing characters and setting the scene but it takes a while for something to “happen,” which I wasn’t expecting for a thriller. Once the action starts it definitely keeps you flipping pages though! Like I said, I had heard so many good things about it that I expected it to be a lot better than it was.
IT ENDS WITH US BY COLLEEN HOOVER | This book came up as a recommendation on Amazon and I’m so glad it did because I loved this book! Lily has had a tough life, but after a run-in with a seemingly perfect guy her life suddenly starts looking up. But, the saying “If it seems too good to be true, then it probably is” rings true when she gets involved with Ryle. unfathomable things happen and makes her question her life, her partner, and her judgement. This book really put things into perspective. You really never know what people are dealing with and hiding.
NEVER NEVER SERIES BY COLLEEN HOOVER | So I will go ahead and admit that this series is not one I would recommend. After reading her previous book, this book popped up under Prime, so I read them for free. First of all, they’re three books… but they’re mini books. I’m not sure why it was broken up into three because it could have easily been one book. It’s the story of a couple who suddenly wakes up one day and can’t remember anything. It happens every 48 hours, so they have to work together to figure out what caused it and why it’s happening to only them. It was a good read, just not worth 3 books!

Whew! That’s a lot of books! I hope you all find a great new read from this and if you have any suggestions, let me know. Have a wonderful weekend & thanks for stopping by!

Big Little Lies is also on my list for the month! I haven't seen the HBO show yet but I love Reese Witherspoon so it'll probably be the next thing I check out :) Thanks for your recommendations!
