FASHION FRIDAY: HOW TO STYLE YOUR FAVORITE SUMMER DRESS FOR WORK

Is it just me or is this week flying by? I really hope I didn’t just jinx it. It seems like I got to my desk on Monday ready to take on the week after my week-long vacation and then blinked and suddenly here we are on Wednesday. Maybe it has something to do with listening to the new Beauty and the Beast soundtrack on repeat all day. Seriously so good.

Or maybe it’s because I’ve finally switched my closets and by that, I mean I took my spring and summer clothes out of their space bags and packed my heavy winter apparel away. It’s exciting to re-discover old favorites like this eyelet dress that I wore during the dog days of summer. It’s back but this time I’m styling it for a casual summer Friday outfit for work. With my tried ‘n true chambray blazer, my lightweight eyelet shift goes from weekend to 9-5. I kept it pretty neutral with my accessories, how great is this cognac bucket bag from Talbots? It’s a far cry from the large tote I typically schlep to and from the office but I think it’s perfect to go from desk to drinks. Trust me, it’s not fun navigating a crowded happy hour with a huge bag. You don’t make friends that way. The bucket bag is also a great crossbody for keeping your hands free running weekend errands. Once the temperature in DC creeps up and the humidity kicks in, you can bet I’ll be reaching for this eyelet dress more and more. Even my short walk to the office can leave me – ahem – glistening aggressively, shall we say?
