Happy Valentines Day from Starfish Cottage!
I hope everyone has a special day with family, friends and loved ones…around here, we love “little celebrations”- any excuse to make the day a little more special. Any excuse will do: Valentines, St Patricks Day, Easter, Birthdays, Anniversaries- you get the idea! Today I want to share with you what I like to do for these “little celebrations”…
First, I like to make up cute gift bags and tags for the family, and maybe one special sweet treat…I love to have everything set up either first thing in the morning when they come down for school, or since that can be REALLY EARLY, I like to have things set up when they get home from school…
In addition to the gift bags and sweet treat…I love to hang a fun little banner to make the day feel a little more special, and if it’s someone’s birthday, add a few balloons!
Often times, the treat is cupcakes- sometimes store bought, sometimes homemade… I love to decorate ordinary cake-box cupcakes with fun sprinkles and these homemade DIY picks, here’s what I do:
All you do is take some cute cut-out hearts in various colors and tape a toothpick onto the backside (or glue the pick in the middle of two hearts)…
They turn out so cute everytime!
I also like to make cute custom monogrammed bag tags (with colorful cardstock and rubber stamps) …and my dirty little secret is that I recycle them every year!
I keep a large plastic ziploc bag with all my bag tags, ribbons, tissue, heart cupcake picks and heart banner then every year about this time, I can pull it out and have an instant “celebration”- how easy is that??
I love to fill the gift bags with little treats, like a fun drink, their favorite candy, something salty like trail mix or pretzels, something healthy like an apple or banana, and other cute items…nothing big, but just some of their favorite little treats.
Here are my bag tags and cupcake picks for St Patricks Day! I will need to add green tissue a few more green ribbons and a green banner, but you get the idea!!
