The Monogrammed Life

football season is already underway [gig 'em aggies!] and the air, depending on where you live, is starting to get more enjoyable with subtle breezes greeting us down here in georgia. these sausage cheese balls are the perfect tailgating appetizer, best served warm but still very good when served at room temperature. I made them a few weeks ago for stephen's tennis city finals tournament - as always - they were completely devoured. everyone loves these, but seriously, men LOVE these sausage balls. no pun intended.

I make these all the time and am always asked for the recipe. try these sausage balls the next time you have people over or bring them to a potluck or party or any occasion where men are involved and you will become a local celebrity. and of course, these fit right in at a tailgate.

even though I make these balls all the time - I actually made a mistake this time around. be sure to use UNCOOKED sausage. I was moving too quickly and had already started to cook my sausage on the skillet when I realized what I'd done. I quickly removed the sausage from the heat and moved on - everything turned out fine but the balls looks a little more like biscuits in these shots. don't worry, when cooked correctly, they are definitely balls not biscuits. moral of the story.... sloooow down even if you've made the recipe many times!

ingredients:

-3 c. bisquick
-1 lb. uncooked sausage (I use jimmy dean regular)
-4 c. grated cheddar cheese (REAL cheese, don't buy the pre-shredded kind)
-1/2 c. grated parmesan cheese
-2 T. italian seasoning
-1/2 c. milk

instructions:

1. preheat oven to 350 degrees and get out a baking sheet. mix all ingredients up by hand in a large bowl.

2. roll mixture up into 1 in. balls and place in rows on the baking sheet.

3. bake for 30-35 minutes. let cool and enjoy!

makes about 40-45 medium sized balls

sweater // jeans // booties (similar) // tote // sunnies // watch (similar) // bracelet (similar)

A few weeks ago I spotted this navy sweater on J.Crew Factory and new I needed it for fall (then again, when isn't that the case with me? :) It's almost identical to the version from J.Crew last year and I got it for an even better deal. The seersucker detailing on the back makes it a more fun piece, yet simple enough to still wear often without getting tired of wearing it. I've worn it 3 times already #guilty and can't wait to get more use out of it before the temperatures really cool down! Of course, I paired it with my favorite skinny jeans and booties to give it a little height. Speaking of booties, I snagged a pair during a Labor Day sale a few weeks ago and can't wait to share them with you soon! Stay on the lookout for a post within the next week or so.

As per usual, shades of navy are my favorite for fall. Are you in the same boat?

The Pumpkin Staircase
Halloween sneaks up on me every year, and I'm always left with a very small time span to prepare.  I always rush to get a costume figured out for my parties, decorate a pumpkin, and infuse some holiday elements in the house.  This year I'm trying to start early!  I already have a costume figured out, but that's a secret that will be revealed October 31st ;-).

Holiday parties are my favorite, because you really get a chance to wow people with your decor.  Most people think Halloween decorations, and the word classy doesn't exactly come to mind.  But I'm not a fan of those artificial spiderwebs or skeletons, either!  Fake spiderwebs are messy, and let's be honest, do you really want spiderwebs, fake or not, all over your house?

I'm ready to infuse some chic and classy Halloween decorations into the party, and I can't wait to try my hand at a few fun DIYs.  Here's a few inspirations and ideas that I'm so excited to try!

A bowl of black roses is dark but dainty.
Delicate black lace over a matte white pumpkin is an instant glamorous touch.
And some cute pumpkin cakes to match!
Using glass bottles as candle holders is a unique and rustic detail that looks eerily amazing on Halloween.  (source)
You signature blood drink accented with black.
Instant elegance- black lace candles.        (source)

Burgundy, Wine, Pantone Color of the Year Marsala, Maroon, Oxblood, whatever you want to call it, I have been loving it lately. I think this might be because I think it coordinated well with 2 of my other favorite colors, navy and blush pink. And like I said in my pleated skirt post somewhat recently, I'm surprised I like this color so much because it was one of the colors included in my catholic school uniforms I wore for 9 years. I guess after a 7 year break I am ready for it again, I guess I already started adding it back in last year with this sweater. Anyway, here are some of my picks in this lovely color for fall, all under $100!
1- Loft Fluid Utility Jumpsuit
2- Lush "Karly" Dress
3- Loft Tweed Flippy Skirt
4- Gap Fit and Flare Dress
5- Lulu's Carmen Sun Diego Hat
6- Baublebar Festival Tassel Bracelet
7- Kendra Scott Alex Earrings
8- J. Crew Parker Bag
9- Halogen Pointy Toe Studded Flat
10- Sole Society Jenn Pointy Toe Pump
11- Nars Audacious Lipstick in Oxblood
12- Essie Bordeaux Nail Color

Pecan Pie Mini Muffins Spoons of Grace

THESE BITE-SIZE BABIES ARE PERFECT FOR ALL OF YOUR FALL CELEBRATIONS FROM TAILGATING TO BREAKFAST THANKSGIVING MORNING TO YOUR CHRISTMAS DESSERT PLATTER. ALL THE FLAVORS OF DECADENT PECAN PIE IN 30 MINUTES OR LESS– YES PLEASE!

You will make this recipe over and over again because you can whip up a batch of muffins in a dash and impress any crowd.
Pecan Pie Mini Muffins 2

I shared these treats at work when I made them and y’all I am not kidding when I tell you that every.single. person. that tasted these muffins begged for my recipe. One of my male coworkers even asked me if he could take the recipe to his wife which made me giggle! I gave it to them, of course! Sharing recipes from my kitchen brings me so much joy.
Pecan Pie Mini Muffins 5
The ingredients are very simple – likely things you already keep in your pantry. You can use any type of pecans you have on hand for the recipe – but, since I made these mini-sized I chose chopped pecans. You will note these are much more budget friendly than a traditional pecan pie because you only need a cup of pecans!
Pecan Pie Mini Muffins
Melting the butter before mixing it in gives these muffins a soft, chewy texture. It removes any “air pockets” that can come about when you combine sugar with butter. Sugar actually cuts bubbles into a stick of butter when you cream them together leading to a lighter, more airy texture and can even lead whatever you are baking to rise a little higher. This also prevents over-mixing the batter as you’re able to gently stir in the melted butter. You will also find that your muffins stay extra moist – melting the butter first also increases its water content by allowing the oil and water to separate. There’s a little Cooking 101 for ya.
Pecan Pie Mini Muffins 4

Your family and friends will sing your praises this holiday season when you serve them these tasty muffins!

Total Time
20 min
Ingredients
  1. 1 cup chopped pecans
  2. 1 cup brown sugar
  3. 3/4 cup flour
  4. 2 eggs
  5. 1 1/3 stick butter, melted
  6. 1 t vanilla
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray mini muffin tins liberally with nonstick cooking spray. {If you are making regular sized muffins, I would suggest using paper liners and spraying with nonstick spray!}
  2. In a large bowl, combine pecans, brown sugar, and flour.
  3. In a separate large bowl, beat eggs. Add melted butter and vanilla. Stir until combined.
  4. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients. Stir just until moistened.
  5. Spoon batter into the mini muffin cups to about ¾ full. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean from the center of a muffin. {For regular size muffins add 5 minutes to baking time}
  6. Remove from muffin tin immediately. Hint: Run a knife around the edges to help muffins pop out clean.

I have plenty of pairs of boots from riding boots, rain boots, and snow boots, but I actually just got my first pair ankle boots! I was really excited to find this pair in a camel color both on major sale and in my size! Which is really difficult when you wear a 5.5. I haven't felt a need for ankle boots in college because there's so much snow at school I would not be able to wear them that much. But now that I'll be spending most of the winter in NC again I think I need a pair. Here are some of my recent favorites.
Ankle Boots

High heel:
1. Steve Madden "Jannyce" boot
2. Vince Camuto "Lorenzo" boot
3. Sole Society "Lyriq" boot

Low heel:
4. Lucky Brand "Mabina" boot
5. Sam Edelman "Petty" boot
6. Franco Sarto "Gypsum" boot

Flat:
7. J. Crew "Frankie" boot
8. Sam Edelman "Chester" boot
9. Ivanka Trump "Preston" boot

If you've ever been on a trip, you know the stress of not knowing what to pack as a carry-on verse what to check for a flight? You know that you don’t want your carry on bag to be too full or too heavy, but you also don’t want to forget anything you might need on that long flight. These are the couple of things that you should have to have the perfect carry on bag.

 Monogrammed Small Travel Bag
To start out, you need a bag that fits within the specified carry on bag size. It can be somewhat of a challenge to find the right sized bag, and even more so to find one that looks good. Travel fashionably with this Monogrammed Small Travel Bag from Marleylilly! It is the perfect size to sail through security and hold all your carry on essentials. Rock this bag throughout the airport in either navy or pink and your choice of monogrammed thread color.

Passport Holder
Your passport should be just as fashionable as you! Don't be caught carrying your passport without an adorable cover on it. With this Cedar Street Passport Holder by Kate Spade, your passport will stand out from all the other passports. This passport holder has the inscription "ready for departure" in gold on the front to let people know that you are ready to go!

Make Up Bag
Don’t make the mistake of checking ALL of your make up. Make sure you keep your must-have make up with you in this Monogrammed Canvas Make Up Bag from Marleylilly. Keeping some of it with you will allow you to be able to freshen up after your flight. It also pairs perfectly with the Personalized Small Travel Bag.

iPad Mini

This smaller and sleeker iPad mini by Apple is the perfect thing to keep you entertained throughout the flight. This iPad is ideal for travel; it takes up less space, but you compromise on none of its capabilities. Load it full of games, books, music, and movies to help the time fly by.

iPad Mini Case
Make sure that iPad is covered and protected in style with a Monogrammed iPad Mini Casefrom Marleylilly!

A Change of Clothes
Always be prepared for the unthinkable to happen. Pack a change of clothes in your carry on incase something happens to your luggage. This will ensure that incase this tragedy strikes you will be able to survive another day in your own style. (And hopefully your luggage will be returned before you need another change of clothes)

Gum and Snacks

While seemingly small items, snacks and gum are very important. If you are anything like us, gum is a must when your about to take off, and snacks are important to have no matter what. Skip the high airport prices and lines and pack them in your carry on bag ahead of time.

Jewelry Case
If you are traveling with any of your favorite jewelry, carry it on with you and don't risk checking it. Travel with your jewelry in this Leather Jewelry Portfolio from Pottery Barn. This portfolio comes in navy or coral with the option to personalize it with your monogram. It is absolutely perfect for storing and protecting your jewelry.

What's in your perfect carry on bag?
