Halloween Puppy Chow Recipe

There you have it! The world’s easiest Halloween snack. I am actually probably going to bring some to my neighbors because I am a good friend like that. Plus I don’t know them outside of the fact that one time I had six huge packages some to my house in August but I was out-of-town so my neighbor had to sign for them and keep them in his living room for two weeks. I felt terrible and he was super salty about it. SO this will be my “sorry that I was not home to receive my packages plz stop giving me death glares every time I pass your door” gift. Happy Halloween neighbor!
I hope you enjoyed today’s post and learned something new today! If you make this Halloween puppy chow recipe, be sure to tag me in a post so I can see how pretty they are!
As always, you guys are the bomb. Thanks for making life so much fun for me!

Halloween Puppy Chow Recipe
This has got to be the world’s easiest Halloween snack that ever existed. Four ingredients and it costs less than $15 to make enough for a family of four. OR if you are like me and CANNOT USE SELF CONTROL, it is a perfect for a single person. This would be so cute to make for a school snack for a kids party at school! Just pack it up in a cute little plastic baggie and tie with an orange curly ribbon. How adorable would that be?! Too bad all my brilliant parenting ideas are wasted right now. Someday, friends. But today is not that day.

Hello Love!
Today was the first day where we've had just a smidgen of relief from the heat and humidity.
We suffered through this last week with highs of 95+ so today's high of 87 is a welcomed friend we haven't seen in a while.
My beautiful friend Kim, over at Daisy Faye Designs, sent me another B E A U T I F U L clutch to model for you.  This amazing fabric from the Rifle Fabric Co. collection makes this clutch a beautiful, classic piece.  I knew as soon as I opened the package that I would have to style it with my favorite army green vest from JCrew and my adorable JS ballet flats!
Outfit Deets:
Shirt // Walmart
Vest // JCrew
Jeans // GAP
Shoes // Jessica Simpson

work potlucks. all in favor - say I? I am a huge fan of work potlucks. they give me an excuse to bake things that I can not keep around the house due to my basically-non-existant-willpower. we haven't had a work potluck in quite some time, but we had one recently and of course, I wanted to try a new recipe. I thought about making these yummy pumpkin snickerdoodle cookies, and then I decided on the healthy route of broccoli salad [then realized it wasn't that healthy]... and then, I seriously finalized the decision with cookies and cream cookies.

maybe it's because I am a huge fan of the cookies and cream candy bars? I could just inhale those and I'm not even a packaged candy bar person. so yes, out with the broccoli and in with the cookies. let me just say that I have never tasted a cookie dough better than this one. people were flat out raving about these cookies, I even got a marriage proposal based on these cookies. I think this recipe may make it into my rotation of holiday cookies!

ingredients:

-1 vanilla cake mix
-8 T. butter, melted
-1 egg
-1 t. vanilla extract
-8 oz. cream cheese, softened
-2 c. oreo cookie chunks (just break them with your hands, not a food processor)
-1/2 c. white chocolate chips
-1/2 c. chocolate chips

instructions:

1. in a large bowl, combine the cake mix, butter, egg, vanilla, and cream cheese. beat until a soft dough forms.

2. stir in the cookie chunks and chips by hand.

3. refrigerate the dough for 30 minutes to an hour, more if you need to do so. roll into 24-36 balls.

4. place on a baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. do not over bake. the cookies will seem under done, but will continue to cook as they cool.

5. let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 2-3 minutes.

6. move the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.

If you're like me and went into college thinking you'd loove 8am's (seriously, what was I thinking), then you're most likely having some trouble getting out of bed in the morning. I have dreaded 8 am classes every Monday, Wednesday and Friday this semester, so I can tell you from personal experience that they are pretty difficult to deal with. I've finally started to accept the fact that they won't get any better, and luckily I've come up with some ways to make them slightly less painful.

Set multiple alarms
I have somehow never fallen back asleep after my first alarm at 7, but I know plenty of people that have slept through both their 8 am's and 9 am's on a regular basis. To make sure this doesn't happen to you, I highly recommend setting multiple loud alarms to ensure you get up when you need to.

 Have you backpack already packed
I made the mistake of having to get everything into my bag while getting ready a few weeks ago, and I ended up forgetting my Spanish textbook for class. Needless to say, you'll sleep a lot better knowing everything is ready to go when you wake up.

Eat your breakfast on the go
Belvita bars are my new obsession, and I have one sitting out every morning to grab and eat while I walk to class. As much as I would love to have the time to sit down and eat a big breakfast, I would much rather get the extra 15 minutes of sleep. Keep a stash of quick breakfasts to eat on your walk to class and it'll make life 100x easier.

When in doubt, take a 90 minute nap
I personally am not one to nap because I always wake up super groggy, but everyone in college seems to swear by naps. Sammy informed me that 90 minutes are the perfect amount of time to get in some good rest, so if you find yourself falling asleep in the middle of the day, take an hour and a half to get in a quick snooze.

Any other tips for surviving 8 am classes?
xoxo

Since fall has made it’s appearance and the weather seems to be here to stay I thought it would be fun to share fall outfits that you can easily recreate! After switching my closet over to my fall clothes last week I got really excited to recreate a lot of outfits I’ve worn in the past. All of these looks have been featured on Life With Emily over the years, but feature classic pieces that can easily be recreated with items that are in stores (or in your closets!) now.
Some of the items worn are still available to purchase, but if not, I have linked similar items for you to shop! Thanks for stopping by & I hope you enjoy! XO
