The Monogrammed Life

we make homemade pizza at least once a week, usually with sautéed mushrooms and turkey pepperoni. stephen adds a ring of barbeque sauce around the crust, it's so good. last week, I decided to shake things up with a taco pizza.

it takes a bit more effort to pick up the lettuce, tomato, and doritos, but we happened to have some leftover ground beef that I didn't want to waste so I went for it. I love the sauce on this pizza, the refried beans add such a yummy element. it's an interesting, different taste that's really good and unexpected. the doritos add a bit of a crunch and the lettuce and tomato make it basically like eating a salad, right?!

ingredients:
-1 ball of dough, I buy the pre-rolled from publix
-1/4 c. pizza sauce
-1/2 can of refried beans
-1/4 c. taco sauce
-1 tomato, diced
-shredded lettuce
-taco flavored doritos (nacho cheese is a fine alternative)
-1 lb. ground beef
-taco seasoning
-mozzarella cheese
-colby jack cheese

instructions:
1. cook ground beef on stove top. drain and season meat with taco seasoning. preheat oven to 480 degrees.

2. meanwhile, toss and roll out pizza dough on round pizza pan. mix beans, pizza sauce, and taco sauce together in a small bowl. spread mixture on top of pizza, leaving space for the crust uncovered.

3. top sauce with mozzarella cheese, layer ground beef on top, and finish with a layer of colby jack cheese.

4. bake at 480 degrees for 10-12 minutes. remove from heat and let set for a few minutes.

5. top pizza with diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, and crushed up doritos. slice and enjoy!

The heat of summer has officially set in here in North Carolina and I think I forgot just how hot southern summers are. Needless to say, when its in the mid-nineties, I want to wear something that is light weight and easy, which is a dress 99% of the time. Today I have rounded up 20 on-trend dresses that are under $100! I'll take one of each, please!

FOURTH OF JULY OUTFIT INSPIRATION

The Fourth of July definitely falls pretty high on my list of favorite holidays! I honestly don't think I have ever been at my house for the holiday which may be one of the reasons I find it so fun. The past 5 or so years I have been celebrating the holiday at camp and before that we always go to my grandparents beach house to celebrate with our family. From fireworks to good food and plenty of time on the water I am excited to be able to celebrate the holiday with my family this summer although I will miss the temporary tattoo, face paint, and snow cones that a Fourth of July at camp has to offer.

Since I won't be spending the day corralling campers and decking out to theme in silly clothes and accessories I put together some outfit ideas that are patriotic but still practical. Mixing and matching red, white, and blue pieces ensures that you can still wear the individual pieces of clothing more than once but I couldn't help but include some other pieces that just scream Fourth of July. Since you still have about two weeks until the holiday there is plenty of time for all of these pieces to arrive at your door step pre firework celebrations!

popsicle tank (my personal favorite) // american flag jacks // red & white sail to sable
scallop skort // red sunnies // flag sunglasses straps // flag canvas tote // striped bikini
nautical flag dress // red scalloped flats // tassel bracelet (comes in more colors for $10) //espadrilles
lobster clutch // striped tunic // red ruffle tank
striped espadrilles // blue & white romper // chambray striped shift // nautical scarf
lobster scarf // flag socks // navy ruffle tank // red drapey shorts

As childish as it may look I am loving that white popsicle tank and would love to throw that on with some red or navy flowy shorts for my Fourth of July outfit (although it would look precious with that navy scalloped skort). Even if you already have the perfect pieces for the occasion adding some new fun accessories would be the perfect way to spruce up your ensemble.

Which would you want to wear for the Fourth?

Shop the pieces above as well as some other red, white, and blue favorites below by clicking directly on the image!
