The Monogrammed Life

It is crazy to me that December is already halfway over. I think the stress of finals and tying up all lose ends after Thanksgiving causes the beginning of the month to be a total blur which is a shame because I think December may just be my favorite month of the year (can't hate the holidays and my birthday). To make the most of the remainder of this month I decided to come up with my own winter to-do list since making a list doesn't just have to be for presents!

I'd love to know what y'all are adding to this list!

It feels so good to be back at home for Christmas. For some reason, the constant chaos that's inevitable in my house is in some ways comforting. I always miss having time to do things I love when I'm at school and I love coming home for breaks like Christmas and Summer because I feel like I can finally spend time on those things (since ya know, no homework and all).

Anyone who knows me knows that I'm not a chef, in any way shape or form. I burnt easy mac when I was younger if that tells you anything about my cooking skills. I live in an apartment this year and despite having a full-size kitchen, I still go to the dining hall for just about every meal. With the exception of my breakfast, I make an eggo waffle every morning without fail and usually eat it on my way to class. #Healthy

Despite my not so pretty past with cooking, I have always loved baking with my mom (still need her expertise). I like the exact measurements and all the details. Plus I love the sweet scent that baking fills the house with. As graduation approaches and the real world on the horizon, I really want to become a better baker. I'm hoping that will be easier when I don't have all the extracurriculars and a heavy class load.

Anyways......I'm done babbling now. Long story short, it's been great being home and see the town all decorated for the holidays. My mom and I went downtown Apex a bit to explore and admire all the Christmas decorations. I love Apex and all it's cute small time charm. It's even cuter at night when Main street is all lit up!

The month of December just goes by in a blur, right? I feel like I was filling out my calendar and then I blinked and here we are in the middle of the month. I think that without any snow, I have a hard time feeling like it’s truly Christmastime. I’ve been listening to Christmas tunes on repeat and wearing as much plaid as humanly possible (Exhibits A, B + C) but I need to see some flurries soon. Christmas cookies do help me get into the spirit of the season (shocking).
The other thing doing the trick? Trader Joe’s holiday section. For whatever reason, I find grocery shopping therapeutic and I always like to peruse TJ’s seasonal and latest items sections to get some kitchen inspiration and check out any funky new-to-me products. You never know what you’re going to find. Over the years, I’ve picked up on Trader Joe’s holiday favorites – the seasonal items that come back year after year. TJ’s makes it super easy to create big holiday magic with a little budget. These items are especially perfect for last-minute hosting!

Wearing: Mint Julep Boutique slouchy tee c/o

I have always loved decorating for Christmas, and it's really fun having my own space to decorate this year! I just got a little white pencil tree (from Michael's), found the perfect sized tree skirt (from Target), put some tinsel with lights around my TV stand that I used to decorate with in college, and set out my little nativity scene I used to have in my room at home.
I don't really have the space for much else, although I wish I maybe had a few decorations for my bar cart. I'll probably add those next year. I just love coming home from work and plugging in the lights, it adds a lot to my little space. I was also home with my family when they got their real Christmas tree last weekend, so I got to decorate two trees this year!

Thanks for reading!

It’s no secret I’ve always been a big fan of Camilyn Beth dresses and this long navy dress is no exception. It’s a great choice for Holiday parties and even a great option for NYE. I’m also loving this shorter option, and this cute one with the ruffle detail!
I’m sharing a few other great NYE options below, that silver sequin dress has my name all over it!
