Planning Tips From Lindsey, Marleylilly’s Marketing Associate

Let's be honest, most of us have been planning our wedding day since we were little girls! We’ve daydreamed about the dress, the bridal party, the decorations, and most importantly, starting a new journey with the one we love! As someone who got married 3 years ago, I know how overwhelming all the details can become when planning a wedding! It’s so easy to get stressed out and forget to enjoy the planning process along the way. So, here are 5 tips to help our brides out there get ready for their big day!

1. Make A Checklist

First things first, take a deep breath! Remember that everything isn’t going to get done all in one day and that’s perfectly okay! Allow yourself to take one step at a time and not let the sheer amount of details overwhelm you. To ease the stress and help you get started, check out this wedding checklist on TheKnot.com. If you’re like me, I LOVE checking things off a list! This website also has a TON of resources, tools, and ideas to help you get through the early planning stages.

2. Get Personalized Gifts For The Wedding Party

It’s never too early to start getting gifts for your bridesmaids and bridal party! Need some ideas? Check out Marleylilly's super cute monogrammed bridesmaid gift set to ask your bridesmaids to be in your wedding! We love how cute the knot earrings go with the card that says, “I couldn’t tie the knot without you”! Marleylilly also carries monogrammed robes and wedding accessories that you HAVE to check out! It just doesn’t get more personal than monograms, folks! ;)

Also, don’t forget to get gifts for your mom and mother-in-law! It will mean so much to them to have something they can keep from your wedding day! Marleylilly also offers gorgeous monogrammed necklaces and jewelry that would make the perfect gift for anyone! This monogrammed pave set adds just the right amount of sparkle to every outfit!

Make sure you remind your fiancé to purchase groomsmen gifts, too! Marleylilly also has personalized gifts for men, like the monogrammed cuff links below!

3. Choose A Theme That Reflects You & Your Fiancé

If you want your wedding to come together in a beautiful and seamless way, choose a theme that both you and your fiancé love! If this is one of the first things you do, it will already help narrow down your options! For instance, if you’re getting married in the summer, you might choose a beachy, pastel theme. Or, if you’re getting married in the fall, white pumpkins, burlap, and earthy tones might be more your thing! Whichever theme you choose, make it your own! Once you’ve picked a theme, check out these beautifully designed invitations on Minted! Since your “save the date” announcements and wedding invitations will be the first thing your guests see, it’s important that they reflect the theme you’ve chosen for your wedding ceremony and reception!

4. Let Your People Help You

One of the best things you can do for yourself is to recruit help from friends, family, and your bridal party! You don’t have to do everything alone! If you’re going to get through your wedding day without going crazy, trust me, you’re going to need help! Don’t rule out asking your fiancé for help, too! I got my fiancé to help me make phone calls to vendors, spray paint mason jars (LOL), and run errands which were a HUGE help. Need a little help getting everyone and everything organized all in one place? Treat yourself to a monogrammed notebook with your NEW INITIALS! :D It will definitely give you the motivation you need to start delegating tasks!

5. Choose A Honeymoon Destination Together

The best part of your wedding day will be when you and your husband drive away into the sunset and leave everyone and all those wedding details behind! Choosing a honeymoon destination that the both of you can enjoy is so important! This was a tough decision for me and my husband because we both have very different opinions about vacationing! I prefer going to the beach and he prefers camping and hiking! In the end, we decided on something totally out of the ordinary for both of us...Disney World! It was a blast and we still try to go back every year to celebrate our anniversary! To help you pick out the perfect destination, check out these honeymoon ideas on the WeddingWire! This website also has SUPER helpful wedding planning, tips, and tricks!

We hope this post has been helpful for all of our brides out there! And just remember, at the end of the day the only thing that truly matters is that you and your husband are finally MARRIED! When all is said and done, you probably won’t even remember all the small details you stressed over. But, you WILL remember the happiness and love you felt on that day. We wish you all the best and we hope you have the most wonderful and perfect wedding day! Congratulations! :)

a couple weeks ago, we headed on over to macy's to embark on creating our extensive wedding registry. we already registered a few months ago at crate and barrel, but only for a small number of items. we planned an extensive registry at macy's, including our formal china. which brings me to my next point, fine china. most of the recent weddings that I've been to lately have not had fine china included on their registries. some friends have told me they are getting china passed down to them, while others just don't want it and have opted for more casual dining wear.

I have been dreaming about my wedding china since birth I think. there is no other time in your life that people will willingly buy you a 5 piece table setting, so for me, I want it to be fine china. to each their own of course, and I don't have any china being passed down to me (that I'm aware of). so while registering at macy's took the better half of three hours (!!), I had a fun time with stephen laying out all the different pieces from bread plate to salad plate to dinner plate plus flatware and an array of crystal glasses. if you find yourself wanting fine china, but also want a set that you can use more often than just thanksgiving and christmas - here are my suggestions!

I will definitely be using these plates, all of which can be found at macys.com, more than twice a year. we registered for a wedgewood vera wang gold pattern 5 piece table setting and then threw in some accent plates from a different collection to spice it up. you can have so much fun mixing and matching with china and I am so excited for the years of entertaining to come. I also happen to have the salad plates from the floral royal albert pattern above and can't wait to mix them in with my wedding china for mother's day, baby showers, or birthdays.

did you register for fine china or do you plan to? for those of you who already have it, how often do you use it?

I have been getting a lot of requests lately to do a "What to Wear" to a wedding, so here it is!

Here are my favorites from Lilly. The first dress is the Wilda, and I love it. I bought it a couple of weeks ago and I got a ton of compliments! The middle dress is the MarieKate. The lace is really pretty and looks great on! The third dress is literally the most surprising dress from Lilly. What I mean is that it literally good fantastic on, but you wouldn't expect it to be so cute! It's called the Preen dress, and I bought it wayyyy in advance for a sorority formal!

The Janice Dress from Lilly is also a great option because it comes in so many different colors! It's one of the most popular options from Lilly. It's super flattering, and such as classic.

Are y'all going to any weddings this summer? What are y'all wearing? Let me know!

Have a great day!

One of my friends in law school got engaged recently and this weekend we are doing a girl's trip to a winery followed by a nice dinner on a patio by the river! I have to take a test that morning, so it will be really nice to get out in the sunshine after and have a lovely day with the girls.

I just love party planning so much, and I wanted to give you all tips today on planning a similar engagement party at a winery!

- The invitations are the first thing people are going to see, so they need to stand out and make people excited for the event! I am really liking these from Minted Weddings:

- Pick a cute winery or vineyard to spend the day at and make reservations for the number of girls planning to attend.

- Get the bride one larger gift from everyone instead of a bunch of small gifts. I like the idea of getting her something with her new monogram, because it will probably be the first thing she gets with it! Marleylilly always has the best monogrammed things. We got our bride-to-be something similar to the hostess tray pictured below.

- Pick out the perfect vineyard-appropriate outfit for Instagramming a ton of cute pictures! Of course, a girly dress from Lilly Pulitzer is just perfect for spending a day in the sun sampling some wine.

The Antonia Dress
The Rosaline Dress
The Posey Dress
- Adding a floppy hat is just the icing on the cake. This one is also from Marleylilly.

I'll be sure to update you all with photos after our party this weekend! In the meantime, you can keep up with everything via my Instagram! I'm @preppylove.
